The Challenge
The customer’s previous 47.5m³ bucket and GET combinations were not achieving production targets. Filling the bucket was problematic and payloads were significantly lower than targets. Inconsistent payloads affected fill factor, creating a miss match in truck pass matching, which in turn impacted production.
The Solution
CR collaborated with the customer to develop and deliver the N2188 (SR7043) cast lip, fitted to a 45m³ bucket. The Stingray cast lip is designed to reduce dig energy, machine wear, and increase production. Using data from the payload monitoring tools, CR verified improved payloads and production.
The Outcome
Improved Safety
Reduced Cost
Decreased Shutdowns
The Impact
The customer exceeded production targets immediately after fitting the new cast lip and GET system.
- 10% higher payload
- 13% less dig energy
- Smaller bucket
- No cycle time change
Operators quickly commented on how much better the Stingray lip was to dig with, stating that it didn’t require as much “working or manoeuvring” to achieve targets.
The customer confidently converted their fleet of applicable machines to
Stingray cast lip systems.
