CR Supports Rescue Helicopter

CR has continued its long-term support for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service (WRHS) with the announcement of a three-year $10,000 annual partnership with the vital emergency service.

The announcement was made today as part of CR’s 40th-anniversary celebrations at their Tomago facility in Newcastle.

John Barbagallo, CR CEO, said that for more than a decade, CR had partnered with major mining operators to raise important funds and awareness for local charities in the Hunter Valley and wider regional New South Wales.

“Today we’re incredibly proud to support the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service with this three-year $10,000 annual partnership,” said Mr. Barbagallo.

“The partnership will help support the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service to continue its critical role in providing safety and support to Northern New South Wales regional communities,” said Mr. Barbagallo.

“It’s reassuring for our staff and their families to know that in the unlikely event our people or our mining partners need emergency assistance, that the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service will be there for them.

“Many of our staff here in Tomago also generously donate to the charity through their payroll deductions,” said Mr. Barbagallo.

“The Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service is there for the community, and we appreciate and thank CR for their commitment to supporting our free of charge service,” said Mr. Richard Jones, CEO Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service.

In 2017, CR partnered with Bengalla Mine to help raise awareness and funds for the service through the release of a special edition dragline bucket painted in the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service colors.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service operates 24-7 and aims to deliver the highest standard of aeromedical and rescue services to those in need for free. Each year almost 2,000 lifesaving missions are conducted from three bases in Belmont, Tamworth, and Lismore for more than 1.5 million people living and working across Northern New South Wales.
