$85,000 raised for prostate cancer
The inaugural two-day Ravensworth charity golf event at Cypress Lakes in October has raised $85,000 for the Hunter division of the Prostate Cancer Foundation Australia.
CR was a proud supporter of the event, donating prizes for raffles, auctions, and awards across the two days.
Supporting local communities
According to Brad Scott, from the Hunter Prostate Cancer Support Group (HPCSG), the money raised from the event would enable the group to employ more nurses, fund additional research at the Mater Hospital, and develop a documentary about support and assistance available to people in the Hunter affected by the disease.
“The golf event was a huge success, which gave Ravensworth’s employees the chance to meet prostate cancer survivors, nurses, and members of the HPCSG,” he said.
Glencore’s Ravensworth mining operations manager Tony Israel said the event not only raised money for a worthy charity, but also boosted morale and camaraderie among the employees and suppliers to the site.
“Doing what we can to provide support to local communities is a major focus for Ravensworth and Glencore,” he explained.
