Meet Sam

CR employee SamSam started as a Cadet Draftsman in the Maryborough Foundry in 2007. During his time at CR Powered by Epiroc, Sam has worked on key development projects as part of the development team and then later leading the projects as a Product Manager. More recently Sam has moved into a business-critical role where he leads CR Powered by Epiroc’s NPD Department.

Sam developed a passion for technical drawing during high school when he graduated, he jumped at the opportunity to apply his skills as a Cadet Draftsman at the Maryborough Foundry. He quickly became an expert utilizing CAD & 3D modeling software, working closely with the engineering team to develop tooling designs and foundry upgrades.

After working as a Design Technician on product design for castings, Sam transitioned to CR Powered by Epiroc’s head office and worked in the Engineering team where he worked as a Design Technician on many key projects. His insights and experience at the foundry allowed him to bring a unique perspective to the design team and this helped improve the manufacturability of CR Powered by Epiroc products.

Sam developed an interest in the product development processes and was given the opportunity to join the Product Team as Product Manager for Hydraulic Excavators and GET. Honing his skills and understanding of the product, processes, and people ensured that Sam would become an expert for GET and cast lips for the Australasian region, progressing to Global South, and finally the Global market.

Sam has been directly involved and responsible for managing some of CR Powered by Epiroc’s most successful product launches, the RE1522 cast lip system, working with engineers, manufacturing partners, and customers to develop, test, and bring to market the world’s smallest cast lip suited to 100-140t class machines.

Now leading CR Powered by Epiroc’s largest product development projects, Sam is involved in developing some industry-changing products. With extensive knowledge of design elements from working in Maryborough Foundry, combined with global product knowledge across CR Powered by Epiroc’s Cast Lip and GET systems, Sam is an invaluable CR Powered by Epiroc employee leading the company in the NPD sphere.
