Rose started her role with CR Powered by Epiroc in 2023 as an Undergraduate Engineering Intern. She was given this position through the Austmine Accelerating Women in METS program, which CR is proud to participate in as part of our diversity and inclusion commitments.
The Austmine Accelerating Women in METS program is one that Rose says is,
“Vital for encouragement of equal opportunities for women in mining and providing career opportunities such as this internship.”
Coming from a customer-facing background, this internship is a welcomed change for Rose and a great opportunity to increase her professional experience. Together with the internship, Rose is completing a Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering degree at the University of Queensland.
“I’m most excited about getting experience in my chosen industry.”
She says CR has helped her attain relevant industry experience while completing her degree. The support from the engineering team has helped with her confidence, skill level, and inspiration in her role and beyond. She has been working on surface and underground mining tasks, including but not limited to creating multiple Wearpact arrangements and helping update our rigging catalogue.
While Rose doesn’t yet possess extensive mining knowledge, growing up in Emerald, Queensland, has meant that she was exposed to the mining environment, sparking a keen willingness to learn more.
Beyond work, Rose enjoys starting new books and spending quality time with friends.
